Career summary:
After university I worked in a steel company sales office before moving into education in 1999. I joined HCUC in 2003 as an English Language lecturer and worked my way up to a Section Manager position where I was in charge of our ESOL outreach and commercial courses as well as some ESF funded projects. From 2009 I became Partnership Manager and managed Uxbridge College’s 7 year Work Programme contract with Reed in Partnership, to support long-term unemployed people back to work, as well as a number of European Social Fund projects. From 2017 my role has been Employability and Projects Manager and has focused on managing the College’s short courses for adult jobseekers and people in low-wage jobs, as well as various projects in areas such as construction, logistics and hospitality. I am involved in managing sector-based work academy programmes with organisations who need support to fill their job vacancies.
Why choose HCUC:
I would recommend HCUC because we are passionate about supporting our local community and economy. We provide high quality, free, short and flexible training and qualifications to adults and young people, which will provide them with valuable skills, knowledge and confidence in different subjects. This will increase someone’s chances of successfully finding employment or advancing in their chosen career.
One big achievement I have had at HCUC:
We have helped many local people to gain new qualifications and confidence that has helped them get into work.
My key strengths:
I strive to help people as much as possible, very much a can-do person, tenacious and determined to get the results we need for the individuals we are supporting.
